Gloria Finotto - Adattamenti

Dialogue lists translations,
lip-sync and voiceover adaptations

How does a movie get dubbed into Italian? It all starts with the dubbing adapter, who reads the original script and listens to the original audio before translating them into their native language. And all this while paying attention to two very important details: pauses and lip-sync.

A good script adaptation into Italian is smooth and fluent, is easy for voice actors to read, doesn’t lose the nuances and meanings of the original text, and doesn’t include word-for-word translation or unnatural language, which can sometimes be found in dubbing.

Technical details

Since 2021, I have been working with dubbing studios translating dialogue lists from English and German to Italian in .docx and .xml formats. Working on pre-adaptations, I also insert technical annotations for the dubbing adapters, and I create adaptations in voiceover and lip-sync… like this one:

FRANZ                  (finFC) Mi fai morire dal ridere! … (ride)

DOLLY                  (DS) La smetti? / (IC) (sorr)

Gloria Finotto - Cosa mi contraddistingue come professionista

Why work with me?

I know the subtitling guidelines of all the clients and platforms I work with like the back of my hand. And I’m the same when it comes to software since I’ve been using privately licensed professional software for years.

Over time, I have developed a rigorous quality control process.
Before starting translating, I always familiarize myself with the project by reading and evaluating it. After translating, I review my work several times, making any corrections needed, before delivering it to the client within the agreed deadline.

My redelivery rate is less than 1%.
